“Everyone should experience an Alaska adventure at least once in a lifetime..”
Whether you daydream about skiing with Tommy Moe, skiing like Tommy Moe, or even being Tommy Moe, your fantasy may come true on your next Alaska adventure at Tordrillo Mountain Lodge. Dream about following in Tommy’s tracks down friendly bowls or steep couloirs. Hope to discover his secret stashes and new runs in the Alaskan wilderness. Imagine a fireside chat sharing stories. Get a glimpse of what it is like to ski like an Olympian – or at least with one. Tapping his incredible skiing insight, Tommy Moe may just be there to guide you to his favorite stashes in the backcountry. Yes, dreams can come true!
As a kid, Tommy Moe admits he daydreamed about skiing constantly and often played hooky on powder days. (He also admits that as a sever year old he struggled in the deep powder and had some terrific crashes!) This fun-loving skier fulfilled his dreams by racing to a gold medal in the downhill at the 1994 Winter Olympic Games in Lillehammer, Norway. Four days later, he celebrated his 24th birthday with a silver medal in the Super G. After the Olympics ended he earned his first World Cup gold with a victory at Whistler. Dreams do come true.
Now co-owner of Tordrillo Mountain Lodge, for the past 25 years Tommy has returned time and time again to Alaska to spend time doing what he loves: playing in the big outdoors. In 2006, Tordrillo Mountain Lodge opened and the adventures continued. Tommy is deeply connected to the land – whether skiing, fishing, rafting, or enjoying the midnight sun. He believes everyone should experience an Alaska adventure at least once in a lifetime. “Alaska is magical.”
With small groups, exclusive terrain and excellent staff, TML sounds like a dream that surpasses all expectations. An Alaska heli skiing trip at TML is different than your average heli-skiing trip; it will be the best trip of their life (until you return!). Committed to the highest safety standards, Tommy is equally dedicated to making each ski experience exciting. Fun seems to be the paramount word – passionate about the outdoors and skiing, Tommy wants his guests to be imbued with that same love. After skiing the morning’s runs, enjoy a gourmet picnic lunch looking over the Tordrillo Mountains which are 50 miles long by 20 miles wide. As Tommy says, “it’s looking at geology in motion.”
Tommy waxes lyrical about the amazing dining at this rustic lodge nestled in the middle of the wilderness. Gourmet chef Brendan Nolan prepares locally sourced food; elk chops, Alaskan halibut, cold water side-striped shrimp. Forget the outdoors for a while; this alone sounds like a reason to visit. Try Tommy’s favorite: pistachio encrusted lamb chops. “They are so good you have to pick them up and eat them off the bone.”
Thighs still burning (though the sauna, massage, and hot tub should help), body tired, mind exhilarated, and completely satiated, you can enjoy the midnight sun or the northern lights (depending on the time of the year). And then to sleep, where your dreams will not even begin to surpass real life.
