Some folks might think that Alaska as a ski destination is just too far away. Those who have experienced Alaska and make the annual pilgrimage will tell you differently. From anywhere in the United States, Tordrillo Mountain Lodge is easier and faster to get to than any of the great Canadian ski locations.

First Stop: Anchorage

Whether you’re coming from the lower 48 or an international destination, plan to book your flights in and out of Anchorage. Having Anchorage as our hub makes flight plans easy. From Ted Stevens International Airport, we’re just a quick 45-minute flight to Judd Lake and the Tordrillo Mountain Lodge. Our winter packages include a one night stay at Hotel Captain Cook in Anchorage the evening prior to your reservation start date, as well as complimentary transportation from Anchorage International Airport to the hotel. All of our packages include a round trip floatplane flight between Anchorage and Tordrillo Mountain Lodge. Learn more about our packages.

Airlines Serving Anchorage

North American guests will be happy to know that all major carriers serve routes to Anchorage. Many of these routes are direct flights from major US cities. Look to Alaska Airlines for West coast, Hawaiian flights and select East Coast airports. Delta, Continental, and United also have numerous direct flights from select cities.

For those traveling from Europe, the best routes are from Zurich and Frankfurt. During the summer months, both Edelweiss and Condor have direct flights into Anchorage. During winter months, BA has a direct into Seattle, with a quick connection into Anchorage.

All guests should plan your reservations to arrive the day prior to your trip start date. Your departure date should be late afternoon or the night of your departure date.

Weather Delays and Insurance

Weather delays in-and-out of the lodge may require flight changes to occur. We recommend that all guests purchase tickets that permit changes to the itinerary. Tordrillo Mountain Lodge’s cancellation and refund policies are firm, so we also highly recommend all clients purchase trip cancellation insurance, trip interruption insurance, medical insurance, and emergency evacuation insurance. These insurance policies cover events that may occur before or during your trip.

  • How do I book a trip to Tordrillo Mountain Lodge?

    We’re so happy you’re considering visiting us here at Tordrillo Mountain Lodge. Here’s how you can book a trip:

    1. Review our package options and availability calendar.
    2. Use our contact form to tell us more about the dates you would like to visit, activities you’re interested in, and the number of people in your group.
    3. A reservations specialist will be in touch with you shortly to answer any questions, confirm your reservation, and process an initial 50% deposit.

  • How do I get to and from Tordrillo Mountain Lodge?

    Winter guests are met at the Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport and transferred to The Hotel Captain Cook for the night. On the morning of their trip’s start date, guests are met by TML staff at the hotel, driven to the ski plane site, and flown into the lodge. At the end of the week, clients are dropped off at the airport or their hotel after returning to Anchorage mid-day. Summer guests are met for their trip in downtown Anchorage by TML staff on their arrival day and transferred the float plane site, where they depart for the lodge. Guests then depart from the lodge in the morning of their departure day and arrive back in Anchorage mid morning.

  • What happens in case of flight delays?

    We will help you get to the lodge in the event of changed or delayed flights. Additional unscheduled flights to the lodge from Anchorage may be charged to guests.

  • What kinds of helicopters and planes do you use?

    The Eurocopter AS 350-B3 (A-Star) helicopter, known for its power, speed, and agility, is the foundation of our air fleet. For transportation between the lodge and Anchorage, we use DeHavilland Beavers, and for remote scouting a Piper Super Cub is available. Learn more about our fleet.

  • Will you book reservations for me prior to and after my package?

    Winter guests will be booked into the Hotel Captain Cook in Anchorage the night prior to departure to the lodge (included in their package). If guests arrive earlier or want to book a stay afterward, we can reserve additional nights at the Hotel Captain Cook (pending availability).
