Few wildlife encounters compare to witnessing Alaska’s coastal brown bears in their natural habitat.
From the salmon-rich rivers of Katmai to the remote coastlines and valleys of Lake Clark, guests have the opportunity to observe bears up close—feeding, fishing, and moving through landscapes untouched by crowds.
This is not a standard tour. It’s a privately guided experience designed around access, timing, and the freedom to explore beyond fixed itineraries.
Wake early at the lodge, enjoy breakfast, and step onto the Otter waiting at the dock. From there, embark on a two-hour flight over the dramatic volcanoes of Spurr, Redoubt, and Iliamna—either cutting through Lake Clark National Park or following the rugged coastline toward Katmai.
Spend the day exploring one of the most wildlife-rich regions in Alaska. Watch bears feast on salmon along the coast, visit the iconic Brooks Falls, or land on a remote volcanic lake where you can step directly onto shore and explore on foot.
On the return, fly through the legendary passes of the Alaska Range before arriving back at the lodge for dinner and a peaceful evening on the lake.
Flight Time: ~5 hours
Total Experience: ~10 hours
Depart north from the lodge and follow the spine of the Alaska Range into one of the most dramatic alpine landscapes in North America.
Fly into the Kichatna Spires—towering granite walls rising thousands of feet straight out of the glaciers—resembling a raw, untouched version of Yosemite. Continue across the Yetna and Kahiltna Glaciers, with views of Denali’s climbing routes and basecamp.
Touch down on a remote alpine lake to stretch your legs and enjoy a packed lunch before returning to the lodge.
Flight Time: ~2.5 hours
Total Experience: ~6 hours
Just 15 minutes from the lodge lies one of the most remote and least visited national parks in the country.
Fly over Mount Spurr and peer into the caldera of the 11,000-foot volcano before descending into Chakachamna Lake—surrounded by towering peaks of the Neacola and Tordrillo Mountains.
Continue through remote valleys searching for bears, moose, and Dall sheep, before arriving at Telaquana Lake—an impossibly blue, glacier-fed lake. Land on a quiet shoreline to explore, hike, and take in the stillness of the landscape.
For those interested in history, continue to Twin Lakes to visit the handcrafted cabin of Richard Proenneke, who lived alone in this wilderness for over 30 years.
