Best Socially Distanced Vacation? 6 Reasons Why It’s Here at Tordrillo Mountain Lodge

Remote and socially distanced is the name of the game for 2021 vacations. Sure, we’re biased, but we don’t think it will take much to convince you that Tordrillo Mountain Lodge is one of the best destinations for avoiding crowds and staying safe during your next trip. From our remote location to our on-site COVID testing capabilities, here are six reasons to consider Tordrillo Mountain Lodge for your 2021 vacation.

1. Our Remote Location

You’ll be hard-pressed to find a resort more isolated in the United States than Tordrillo Mountain Lodge. Without so much as a road leading to our luxury lodge, the only way in and out is via floatplane. When we’re in-season, our staff live on-property and are fully quarantined before guests arrive.

Having little contact with the outside world has never sounded better and is one of the reasons Tordrillo Mountain Lodge was already ahead of the curve when it came to pandemic-proofing our guest experience.

2. Limited Guest Capacity

Not only are we way off the beaten path, only a lucky few get to vacation here at one time. Our largest lodge hosts a maximum of 12 guests, and our other smaller, private lodge hosts up to 8 guests. We maintain an ultra-private experience with no co-mingling between lodges.

In addition, we’ve updated the dining experience in our main lodge by spacing out dining tables and separating guests by groups to limit risk. In any common areas at the main lodge or on aircraft, we require guests, guides, and pilots to wear masks.

3. On-Site Rapid COVID Testing System

As an extra cautionary measure, we’ve added a rapid COVID testing machine to our lodge for the 2021 season. The BD Veritor Testing System gives results in 15 minutes. Because of this, we can test our staff and guests as needed on-site for extra peace of mind.

4. Stringent Sanitation Policies

Not only did we invest in a testing machine, but we’ve also doubled down on sanitation with a portable fogging machine that allows us to sanitize entire rooms between guests. HEPA air filters, hand sanitizer stations, and increased room cleaning protocols ensure that our lodge is safe and sanitized at all times.

5. State-Mandated Protocols

While we’ve taken extra measures to keep guests as safe as possible, the state of Alaska is also making every effort to keep COVID from crossing our borders. All out-of-state travelers are required to bring proof of negative results from a COVID test taken in the past 72 hours unless they are fully vaccinated. Your negative results must be uploaded to the Alaska Travel Portal. (If you’re still awaiting results, you will still need to upload proof of your test to the Alaska Travel Portal and quarantine until you receive your negative result.)

6. Heli Skiing, Fishing, Hiking, and More

Tordrillo Mountain Lodge is safe, sanitized, and socially distanced, but that’s just the beginning of the good times that await. Once you’ve landed on Judd Lake, the activities are endless. In winter, we’re one of the premier heli skiing lodges in the world, with unmatched terrain and epic runs. In summer, our property turns into a haven for families and small groups looking for an up-close experience with the Alaska backcountry. Our fleet of helicopters affords guests the opportunity to explore secluded fishing holes, walk on glaciers, and climb Alaska’s first via Ferrata, all with an experienced guide.
