If you find yourself spending a couple of days in the Anchorage area before or after your time at Tordrillo Mountain Lodge we recommend you make some time for Alaska hiking. Hiking is a great way to take in all of the beauty that Alaska has to offer. Below we have listed some different park and trail options out of Anchorage recommended by Alaska.org.

  • Flattop Mountain at Glen Alps: Flattop Mountain is Alaska’s most visited peak. The trail is a 20-minute drive from Anchorage and is 1.5 miles to the top. The trail is 1,350 vertical feet and leads to views of Mt. McKinley and the Aleutian Islands.
  • Kincaid Park: The park is located 15 minutes from Anchorage and offers more than 80 miles of trails. The park is 1400 acres and home to Anchorage’s largest moose population.
  • Tony Knowles Coastal Trail: If you want to stay close to town, this trail is a perfect fit for you. The trail runs 11 miles along Cook Inlet and features many Anchorage attractions along the way.
  • Chester Creek Trail: This is a four-mile path that runs from Westchester Lagoon to Goose Lake in Anchorage. It is a flat and paved trail. The trail intersects with Tony Knowles Coastal Trail.

We are excited for your next visit to the lodge and we want you to take in all that Alaska has to offer. Enjoy some hikes in the Anchorage area to add to the heli-skiing and heli-fishing experience you are getting at the lodge.
