SUP: Stand Up Paddleboarding
“SUP” might be a greeting used by those not interested in complete words. But nowadays SUP, or stand up paddleboarding, is also an outdoor sport that is sweeping the nation.
As part of the watersports program here at Tordrillo Mountain Lodge, stand up paddleboarding is a great way to get outside and explore our lakes and rivers . . . not to mention that it’s pretty dang fun and can be a good workout as well.
When it comes to Tordrillo modes of transportation, the helicopter steals the show, and for good reason. There are not many places where you can heli ski and heli fish in the same day (ie Cast & Carve). But when it comes to off-day activities or taking a break from pulling in huge fish, stand up paddleboarding makes a strong case for topping your list. I mean come on, we’re basically surrounded by paddle-able water, so it’s a no-brainer!
One of the best ways to get out and truly experience the beauty that is Tordrillo Mountain Lodge and the surrounding terrain is to hit the water. Believe me, it’s a whole different view than from the shore. Plus, it’s as easy as grabbing a board, walking down to the shore and paddling out onto Judd Lake. Looking to spice it up while you’re out there? Here are a few ideas:
1. Race. Nothing quite like a little competition to make things more interesting.
2. Obstacle course. A true test of your skill on the paddle board.
3. Tag. Games are always fun.
At least until it ices up out here, it’s time to paddle.
P.S. A big thank you to Fly Out Media for the fresh photo!
